Frequently Asked Questions
What services does JRO Dirt and Demo offer?
We offer commercial demolition, excavation and site prep, land clearing, forestry mulching, and dirt work and grading. Our focus is on large commercial and commercial-scale projects. Full details are available on each individual service page.
Do you work with residential clients?
Our primary focus is commercial work — property developers, large landowners, and commercial property owners. We have the equipment and crew depth for commercial scale, and that’s where we stay focused.
What areas do you serve?
We’re based in Sterling, Kansas, and we serve clients across all of Kansas, into central and eastern Nebraska, and throughout Oklahoma. We’ve worked as far north as Ogallala, Nebraska and as far south as the Texas border. If you have a project in the region, call us and we can talk through whether it’s a fit.
How does your consultation process work?
We charge a consultation fee before we begin assessing your project. That fee is not separate from the job — it applies directly toward the cost of the work if you move forward. This approach allows us to give every project the attention it deserves from the first conversation.
Do you offer free estimates?
We do not offer free estimates. We charge a consultation fee, which is applied to the cost of the project if you proceed with the work.
How quickly can you start a project?
It depends on our current schedule and the scope of the job. Large projects require planning and scheduling in advance. Contact us as early as possible to discuss timelines.
How long has JRO Dirt and Demo been in business?
JRO Dirt and Demo launched in December 2022. The owner, Colyn Johnson, has 17 years of personal experience in excavation, demolition, and land work prior to that.
What makes JRO Dirt and Demo different from other contractors in the region?
We run three active crews with state-of-the-art equipment, which means we can take on multiple large projects simultaneously. Our focus is commercial, our equipment is current, and we have the hands-on experience — including managing large crews on major projects — to handle complex work. We are not trying to be the lowest bidder.
What are your operating hours?
7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.
